Founded in 2003 by Jay McGuinness and incorporated in 2004, BigJump has been growing ever since. A key milestone was in 2005 when we were joined by James Morcom who now leads up the development team.
What do you do?
We build web based solutions for your business, which are flexible, easy to use and very clever.
How do you do it?
With passion and a sprinkling of Agile, XP, TDD & BDD.
Who do you do work for?
Current projects include work for FTSE PLC's, financial institutions, national consumer & trade shows as well as multiple well-known magazine publishers. Previous projects have included work for government at both a local and national level in addition to numerous well know high street brands..
What technologies do you use?
We use a mixture of Microsoft and Open Source. Typical projects would be built with Microsoft.NET, C#, Monorail, NHibernate & SQL Server. This isn't fixed in stone as we are always looking to embrace emerging technology, if it means a better product can be built.
How do you test your software?
A great question. We practice "Test Driven Development" which means that we actually write our tests before we write a single line of code. Not only does this mean that our code is very well tested, it also means that the resulting software is robust.
How long have you been established?
Since 2003, so we are now in our fifth year!
Why are you called BigJump?
It seemed like a good name back in 2003 :)
Where happened to the BigJump bookshelf?
James thought it was cheesey so I've moved it to 22books, a great site for collating book lists.
